How a Geneva gym turns Instagram Reels into trial members

In Geneva, deciding to start training usually begins with a thumb on Instagram. Before anyone signs up, they watch a few Reels to see whether they would fit in the room. A gym or studio that shows the real thing, and makes the first visit easy to claim, turns that scrolling into trials, and trials into members. Here is the playbook.

GEField notes
01

Show the room a beginner will actually enter

The Reels that bring people in are not the ones with the heaviest lifts. They are the ones that show the actual room: the class in progress, the coach correcting form gently, members who look like the person watching. A newcomer is asking one silent question, 'would I belong here?', and honest footage answers it better than any promise.

Film where you are in Geneva. The Reel that shows your Eaux-Vives studio, the walk from the tram, the lake ten minutes away, tells a local exactly what their Tuesday could look like. Generic gym footage could be anywhere; yours should be unmistakably here.

Capture ordinary sessions, not just events. A quiet weekday class, a coach explaining a warm-up, two members laughing between sets. Those ordinary moments are what make a studio feel like a place a nervous beginner could walk into.

02

Make the first visit free and easy to claim

Most people need one low-risk step before they commit to a membership, and the details around it decide whether they show up. Not knowing where to go, what to wear, or whether they will be the only beginner is enough to stop someone.

So give them a free trial or a first class, and make claiming it something they can do in ten seconds from their phone, then answer the small fears in the DM:

  1. End each Reel with one line: comment a word or send a DM for a free trial
  2. Reply fast and warmly, in French or English as they wrote
  3. Offer two or three concrete times rather than asking 'when suits you?'
  4. Send the address, the tram stop, and what to bring
  5. Note their name so the coach greets them at the door
03

Make beginners feel welcome, not judged

The biggest thing between a viewer and your door is intimidation. Film the scaled version of a movement next to the hard one, show a first-timer being coached, and let members of different ages and levels appear. People sign up for rooms where they can see themselves, not only the fittest person there.

Let the coach talk. A short clip of a trainer explaining, in plain language, why a movement matters builds more trust than a montage set to loud music. Prospective members are buying the person as much as the programme.

04

Film one class, post all week

You do not need daily footage. One class, filmed from a corner on a phone, holds a week of posts: the warm-up, one coaching moment, a member's effort, the group at the end. Shoot it once, with everyone's okay, and edit down.

If nobody on the team wants to run the account, that is the part to hand off. With YouCreator you send a voice note after a good session, 'the 7am class was full, two newcomers loved it', and we turn it into the week's Reels and Stories and handle the trial requests that land in the DMs. You coach; the account recruits.

05

Turn a trial into a membership

The trial is not the finish line. The message that matters most comes after the first visit: a same-day DM that says it was good to have them, answers any hesitation, and offers a clear next step. Most people join a gym because someone made the next move easy, not because the discount was large.

Keep a simple habit of following up within a day, while the session is fresh. A warm, specific message that mentions how their first class went converts far better than a generic reminder a week later.
